FREELANCERS & SOLO-PRENEURS
We're creating a new community of professionals who are based in Amsterdam and we need your help to make it work.
Supportive, compassionate, and collaborative
We're creating a new community of professionals who are based in Amsterdam and we need your help to make it work.
We understand that times have changed a lot over the last years. Companies are not hiring long term freelance without a clear SOW and due to the emergence of artificial intelligence, some clients are choosing to take the risk on their own without proper support.
These two factors combined have had a huge impact on the market and a growing number of freelancers are either struggling to land new projects OR finding themselves applying for permanent positions.
supportive
So we came up with an idea to connect a community of like minded professionals in the creative industry who have a growth, collaborative and supportive mindset.
We want to create an environment where members of the community aren't just there for the free coffee, but are also there to support each other.
At Amsterdam Creatives, we want to pride ourselves on our ability to be vulnerable, say that we're afraid of something we're stuck on and ask each other for help.
By supporting each other, we can enjoy the benefits of feeling like we're a part of a community that feels safe to us. Safety breeds creativity and with that, comes the motivation to thrive.
We want support, compassion and collaboration to be at the heart of who we are and want to feel that we belong to something nice.
meet
We're Mara and Will who have been working together as a collaborative for almost 6 years now. I first met Mara in 2016 where I emailed her about a project she could help me out on but she didn't respond until 5 years later with "sorry for the late reply".
I was instantly hooked and we started working on projects together sizing from startups with less than 50k to corporates with a lot more than 50k.
We are not only colleagues but life long friends too and have supported each other not only with entrepreneuring, projects, technical and design stuff, but also with life's many problems that it throws at us along the way.
It is this supportive, compassionate and collaborative mind set that has helped us to be successful over the years and now we want to grow that by meeting other like minded professionals.
intentions
We would like to build up a supportive community of freelancers that would like to connect on a more frequent basis, offer support and feel a part of something.
One of the first things we would like to do is start monthly event meetups where interested freelancers and solo-preneurs can meet each other and build their own network.
Following this, we would like to then introduce talks and events where we can show each other what we're working on. Rather than impressing only our clients, wouldn't it be nice to get a reaction from the work we're most proud of by showing other members of the community? Think, open mic for musicians but a demo for creatives each month.
Then after this, if we're really growing, there's no harm in finding our own co-working and event space where we can get that all important belonging feeling, as if we worked for a company but instead, be a part of a freelance community.
Then in the future, I might even bring in startups and scaleups to audition to be incubated within our community so we can contribute a small amount of time each to help them grow from ideation to MVP.
This would help startups to find the right experts (which is us) and we can benefit from working for new clients collaboratively. We would discuss the proposal for each deal between the interested members so everyone is fairly remunerated in money OR shares if that's possible.
members
speakers
We would like to invite speakers to share their knowledge and experiences so that we can each learn from leaders in our fields.
This means that we would not only be able to benefit from the skills and support that we have as a community, but we can learn from leaders in our field.
By inviting in professionals to speak to our community, we have the opportunity to learn what others are doing in the market and also, what companies are currently looking for.
Perhaps there are leaders in a particular industry that have insights on design or web development but live outside of the orbit of Amsterdam Creatives. These people will be a valuable resource for helping us to stay up to date with current trends.
contact
But all this is only possible with an actual community.
We would love for you to be a part, especially if your skills are in web development, UI/UX, design, illustration, marketing, copywriting, video, animation, sound and other such creative industries.
